I was going through a very tough time. I was homeless and about to give birth to a little boy. We had no place to go when I left the hospital, no family to turn to for support. If I could not find a home for us, he would go to CPS.  I would not get to be his Mom!

My caseworker had an idea. She told me about Safe Families – how volunteers host children while their parent gets back on their feet. I was at a dead-end so I met with Kady, the Coach. She and her family took care of my little boy for a few days. Then, she found another volunteer family who agreed to take in both my son and me!

They welcomed us into their home and lives. I got to be a Mom to my son! We got to be part of a family. I have friends and support. My life changed so much through Safe Families!

Today, I have a job, a car, and goals including saving money to be able to move to our own place. After we move, though, I know we will always be a part of this family! Thank you!
